Overdevest Nurseries Links up with Bouldin & Lawson to Create the Ultimate Contour Trimmer
Overdevest Nurseries in Bridgeton, NJ is a leader when it comes to efficiency. One of the areas that owner Ed Overdevest honed-in on was the cost of trimming. When he saw the Bouldin and Lawson Contour Trimmer, he thought it was a great innovation, but then he had an idea that would provide even greater savings.
Overdevest worked with the B&L Solution Team to create a unit that provided the ultimate in trimming flexibility for his nursery operation. The unit is virtually three machines in one. The new Trimmer will adjust to multiple sized containers from 1 gallon to 5 gallons and any combination of shapes from round to pyramid, and diameters as small as 3 inches and as large as 3 feet. The height can also be adjusted up to 42 inches. The unit is completely mobile and runs on PTO supplied power. The innovative collection system captures the clippings, shreds them and blows into its own caged discard cart.
But what makes this trimmer truly better is that it can be outfitted with “off the shelf” trimmers. “Our number one issue with contour trimmers is the trimmers themselves. This new unit solves that by allowing us to change out trimmers immediately if one goes down,” says Overdevest.

Color Point Greenhouses in KY owned by Art van Wingerden wanted to be able to feed four production lines form one bulk hopper but be able to add soil amendments independently to each line. They wanted to do this without the use of a conventional mix line which would need expensive software to be able to deliver multiple mixes on demand to each line but would need to clean off after each batch. This system utilizes chemical feed hoppers on each of four auger feed lines that can be adjusted as then run on demand.
Art got this idea from his brother and asked us to build the system for him and of course we were happy to help out.
